Description

The wetland plant known as meadowsweet, or Filipendula ulmaria, thrives in damp ditches and water meadows. It draws a variety of insects, such as ladybirds, dragonflies, and bees. Meadowsweet usually reaches a height of one metre and blooms from June to August with cream-coloured, sweet-smelling flowers. It can be planted at a ponds edge in gardens. The most visually appealing way to cultivate meadowsweet is in combination with other wetland plants that flower at roughly the same time as it does, such as water mintt, purple loosestrife, hemp agrimony, gypsywort, and fleabane. Queen of the Meadows is another name for Meadow Sweet.
