Description
Sow the seeds indoors between February and April.
Use trays of moist seed compost with good drainage.
Cover the seeds very lightly with a thin layer of compost or vermiculite.
Keep in a heated propagator at 22-24c until seedlings appear.
Germination usually takes up to 21 days.
Transplant seedlings into individual small pots when large enough to handle.
Harden off the young plants gradually before moving them outdoors after the last frost.
Plant out in full sun once all risk of frost has passed.
Water moderately during growth and avoid waterlogging the soil.
Deadhead faded flowers and pinch back growth to keep plants compact and encourage more blooms.
If growing in pots or baskets, feed regularly to maintain strong flower production.
