Description

A versatile and easy to grow perennial with lovely flower spires. The Salvia ‘East Friesland’, ‘Ostfriesland’ or Balkan Clary Sage, is a compact cultivar with mounded, ovate, dark green leaves which produce a pleasant scent when crushed. Above the foliage are upright flower spires carrying panicles of tiny, tubular purple-pink flowers which appear from early to mid-Summer, lasting throughout and into the Autumn. A great option for patio planting or rockery displays.

Plant in humus-rich, moist, well-drained soils and keep in full sun. Tolerates partial sun but upright stems will wilt and droop when under too much shade. Prefers light, sandy or gravelly soils. Drought tolerant once established.
