Description

Start the seeds indoors from February-April.

Sow the seeds about 3mm deep into moist, welldrained seed compost and lightly cover.

For better germination, cold stratify by chilling the sown pots in the fridge for 2 weeks before placing them in warmth.

Keep at a temperature of 15-18c until germination occurs, they can be slow to sprout.

Seeds will usually germinate within 14-21 days under good conditions.

Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into small pots to grow on.

Grow the young plants on in cooler conditions with good light.

Gradually acclimatise the plants to outdoor conditions before planting out.

Plant out after the risk of frost has passed into a sunny, welldrained site.

Space plants about 30cm apart.

Water moderately during dry spells until established, but avoid waterlogging.

Tall stems may need staking or light support in exposed positions.

Remove spent flowers to encourage continued blooming, or leave them if you want seeds to selfsow.
